Overview for Generator Capability

  • On-site technical guidance to the client-owned utility and industrial power plants for their Turbine Generator Systems.
  • Review plant engineering documents and P&ID’s.
  • Troubleshooting of plant systems and equipment.

Specific Activities for Generator Capability

  • Perform inspection and testing of the generator field and stator utilizing the latest technology. (MAGIC inspection, Digital/Analog EL-CID, Flush and Bake skid (FAB), Quick skid, Capacitance Mapping, Tracer Gas, Vacuum Decay, Pressure Decay, 60 Hertz AC HIPOT test set, Wedge Tapping, Computer Based Reporting tool), Epoxy Injection, UT Flow.
  • Advise and perform repair or inspection procedures utilizing the latest electronic communication, references and documentation technologies.
  • Anticipate and document potential generator failures.
  • Experience in Power Circuit Breakers, Protective Relay Systems, AC and DC Motors / Generators, Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Understanding of prints/print reading, e.g. manufacturing drawings, P&IDs and schematic drawings
  • Pre-outage planning; Guidance and administering policies and procedures
  • Execution of projects, generator field and stator rewinds, general generator repairs, and inspections
  • Warranty administration and troubleshooting issues
  • Inspection of Customer Site including but not limited to the following:
    • Ocular inspection of Generator components, Exciter and auxiliary equipment
    • Operation of robotic inspection equipment
    • Testing (DC and AC) and non-destructive mechanical testing on Generator main components, Exciter and auxiliary equipment
    • Interpretating of test results to determine maintenance requirements
    • Acquisition and evaluation of generator health monitoring data
    • Root cause analysis in case of generator equipment failure
  • Formulation of maintenance work orders based on inspection results.
  • Development and generation of formal customer reports containing recommendations, computer generated graphics, plots, tables, summaries and comparisons. Maintain & archive electronic and hard copy inspection data and reports.
  • Identification and execution improvement projects in the field of Generator test and inspect.
